Election Related Verified Mbale 9 Nov 2020 Severity: 2/5

Police blocked the road into Mbale City to stop FDC presidential candidate Patrick Amuriat's convoy and did not let him address supporters at Clock Tower, the Daily Monitor reports. At Fika Salama on the Mbale–Bukedea border, police fired teargas at FDC supporters after Amuriat addressed them, saying they were violating Covid-19 guidelines; Mbale DPC Fred Ahimbisibwe said Amuriat had no permission to address people in Mbale. Amuriat accused police of partisanship before continuing to Soroti.
