The Independent reports that police spent much of Tuesday firing tear gas and live bullets to disperse supporters who lined Busia town's streets to welcome NUP presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi. The Red Cross Busia branch said it registered more than 15 cases needing medical attention; injured people were taken to Busia Health Centre IV, Daban Hospital and Africure International Medical Centre. The Bukedi South police commander said supporters provoked security by throwing stones, while injured supporters said a tear gas canister thrown into a crowd caused a stampede.
