Rukungiri RDC orders arrest of Murama parish chief and PDM Sacco chairperson over alleged extortion

According to the Daily Monitor, Rukungiri RDC Bron Kikanshemeza ordered the arrest of the Murama Parish chief and the parish PDM Sacco chairperson during a community dialogue. Residents alleged the two demanded between Shs30,000 and Shs45,000 before people could access Parish Development Model funds, which the government says are free. The two were held at Nyakishenyi Police Station pending investigations.
