Two killed by gunshots after LC1 polling station disrupted in Bumwenge Town Council, Jinja

Two young men died of gunshot wounds during violence at Buwenge Progressive Academy polling station in Kabi Zone during the LC1 elections, the Daily Monitor reports. Police spokesperson James Mubi said supporters of an LC1 chairperson candidate who had boycotted the vote returned and confronted election officials and security personnel, and police fired warning shots; one man was hit by what police described as a stray bullet and died at the scene, and another died later at Jinja Regional Referral Hospital. Police said they had named two suspects accused of instigating the violence.
