UCC takes Rukungiri's Boona FM off air over broadcasting standards breaches

The Uganda Communications Commission confirmed that Boona FM in Rukungiri was taken off air, saying the station repeatedly breached minimum broadcasting standards and ignored earlier directives, ChimpReports reports. The station has petitioned UCC to resume broadcasting, citing financial loss, while Security Minister and local MP Jim Muhwezi denied involvement in the closure amid local speculation that it was politically motivated.
