Court-supervised recount of Masaka City Woman MP votes excludes Kimwanyi P7 ballot box

Justice & Court Rulings Single source Masaka 31 Jan 2026 Severity: 1/5

ChimpReports says Chief Magistrate Albert Asiimwe, overseeing a recount of the Masaka City Woman MP election at the Electoral Commission offices in Kizungu, ruled that results from Kimwanyi P7 polling station be disregarded. The ruling followed the discovery that the ballot box held 97 votes, all for NRM candidate Justin Nameere. Another polling station had already been excluded because its ballot box had no security seal. The recount, which began on Friday evening, followed Nameere's petition against declared winner Rose Nalubowa, who refused to take part, arguing that the recount misapplied electoral law.
