According to the Daily Monitor, Masaka resident judge Victoria Nakintu Katamba did not grant bail to Catholic priest Fr Deusdedit Ssekabira, who is charged with money laundering involving Shs500 million, and instead fixed the case for hearing, adjourning it to February 10. Defence lawyers argued that his rights were violated when armed military personnel arrested him on December 3, 2025 and held him in an illegal detention facility; the prosecution opposed bail, saying he could interfere with investigations.
