Tororo court dismisses independent candidate's recount application in West Budama County North MP race

Tororo Chief Magistrate Irene Nantebya dismissed an application by independent candidate Richard Othieno Okoth seeking a recount of all polling stations, ruling that it lacked merit, and asked the Electoral Commission to gazette Max Ochai as MP. Othieno had argued that numerical errors the returning officer missed cost him the seat; Ochai had been declared winner with 12,259 votes to Othieno's 12,255, according to the Daily Monitor.
